Agriturismo Coliberto

When the Conti Reggiannini family purchased the estate in 1975, they decided, against the advice of many neighbours, to plant vines in an area that, at the time, was believed to be unfit for viticulture. Time though, has proven them right. In fact, the area around Massa Marittima was later recognised as a promising wine zone and, in 1994 it became the heart of the 'Monteregio di Massa Marittima' DOC zone. The estate is currently managed by Claudia Reggiannini, the owner-viticulturist daughter of the founders. Under her direction, quality wines, strongly affected by the terroir and expressing the full characteristics of the Monteregio di Massa Marittima DOC, are produced.

In an area of 10 hectares, in addition to growing traditional Tuscan vines, such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Malvasia and Vermentino, there are Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay vines as well. The grapes, all of which come from the family vineyards, are carefully selected at harvest time and made into wine in the modern estate winery. Five different Monteregio di Massa Marittima DOC wines are the result: apart from the Laran (red wine), the Morello (red wine) and the Venelle (white wine), two other wines are made from select grapes when the harvest is particularly good. These are the Thesan Riserva, a great, elegant and harmonious red wine, with noteworthy persistence, and Aurora, a fine, delicate, high quality white wine. The product line is rounded out by two varieties of Grappa di Monteregio: white and riserva, as well as the minimum, but truly high quality, fragrant and fruity extra virgin olive oil.
